PRL (Practical Rifle League)
Practical Rifle League “PRL” is an informal league that was started in 2022. PRL is a long range discipline that involves shooting off barricades and props under a timed course of fire. Each league night we shoot 2 to 3 different courses of fire which range from 5 to 10 rounds each. We try to keep the round count low to conserve ammunition while still offering a challenging course of fire. The round count averages roughly 20 rounds per league. PRL is shot on both the silhouette range and the high power range. Distances range from 200 to 1000 yards but most league nights utilize the available barricades on the silhouette range from 200 to 525 yards. We meet on Thursday nights from the end of April to September, at 5:30pm and begin shooting at 6:00pm.
Each league night is an opportunity to learn and to test each shooters ability to adjust for environmental variables, solve problems and shoot accurately. PRL skills are practical in nature and can be utilized in the long range hunting world where speed and accuracy count. PRL follows the PRS safety protocol and we expect every shooter to be safe. Safety at the range is the number one priority and anyone who is unsafe will be asked to leave. Throughout the year we host additional training classes to help us improve and learn new skills. Many league members are serious competitors who use the time at league to perfect their skills prior to a match.
We welcome new and experienced shooters. If you are new to the sport please contact us prior to attending a league night. Because we are limited by the amount of sunlight at the end of the day, it’s important to arrive early and be ready to assist with any setup or to get your gear ready. Every league night starts with a safety brief. Shooters must attend the safety brief in order to shoot. If you wish to join us on a league night please contact us. Be sure to check the calendar on the club website for any changes to the schedule. We hope to see you at PRL league night!
